What is a catch basin? A catch basin or storm drain is a drain that collects rainwater from our homes and streets,  commonly found in parking lots and on the side of the road. Catch basins need to be maintained and cleaned periodically to remove the build-up of sand and debris collected over time.  A fully or partially clogged catch basin will not drain properly, leaving pools of water on the road.
